Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015) Review

When Quinn Brenner is trying to contact her dead mother and she feels that she is around her, you just know that everything is going to go wrong. But the level of this cannot be predicted.

Quinn is warned by Elise not to contact the dead on her own, but I mean come on this is a horror film obviously she is not going to listen to her at all. Add in creepy old woman who lives in the next apartment and you have all of the different things to attempt to scare you.

I remember being pretty impressed with Chapter 2 as I do not normally like horror films as feel the stories usually lack. So I went into this one hoping for a similar experience. I was left disappointed as the story was not as well thought through and seemed to just build up for the jumps which were extremely obvious which took away the scare factor in my opinion.

Chapter 3 actually happened before Chapter 2 . . . If you can mange to get your head around that. I thought though having already got some of the answers in Chapter 2 that parts of this were actually pointless, as you knew everything was going to be alright for Elise. Yes it may build up to why she went back in 2 but I thought that made this film lose a lot of edge it could have had with a slightly different story.

Some of the moments aren’t very nice to watch (obviously) unless of course you’re a bit strange in the head really. Although some of the moments end up actually being funny as they are so far the other way and off the wall. All of the talk of demons and the two different worlds after you die is pretty interesting I guess, if your into that type of thing. It will make you wonder what exactly happens after. A version of heaven and hell when you think about it, but with different names for them.

I wouldn’t say I would then recommend this one, maybe watch it before Chapter 2 if you have not seen that one already? I guess that’s a good way to do it as maybe this one would be a little better? I might be clutching at straws with this one. So have you seen Chapter 3 and did you find it scary or not?

  1. I am a huge fan or horror, but I’m always disappointed with the new movies. I’m glad I didn’t waste my money on this one. I will wait for it to come out on DVD or Netflix. Lol
