Everyone at the moment is apparently in love with Christian Grey again. You know that billionaire who thrives off abusing women with pain in “sex” punishments to make himself feel better.
In Fifty Shades Darker he even calls himself a sadist. He’s controlling, manipulative and suffocating. Telling you that you can’t do something and wanting you just for his own. The latter of that would or could be nice I guess but not in the way it is portrayed through his character. Does this therefore risk our ideas of love and relationships to change?
Give me Robert in Bridges of Madison County standing in the rain any day over Christian Grey and his “playroom” any day!
Maggie is an uptight single parent who has struggled to communicate and get along with rebellious teenage daughter Summer for quite a long time. She thinks that a journey back to a Tuscan village that she visited in her younger days would help them reconnect. A first love might just spoil the plans that were in place.
When a flight to New York is grounded in Buffalo due to a snow storm it brings together a woman, Paige who is attempting to meet her future in-laws for the first time, a very cynical man Dylan who does not want to make it to the family Christmas and a couple Maxine and Frank who have been married for twenty years.
Drew Baylor a shoe designer has just cost his company one billion dollars. He therefore decides that the shame would be too much that he will commit suicide, something worse happens though when he finds out his father has just died. He must be the responsible one and bring him back from Elizabethtown.
Nicole Maris has her sights set on a school jock to take her to the school prom. Not everything is going to her perfect plan though and she is about to realise that sometimes what you want has been right in front of you the whole time.
Bridget Jones is pretty much sick of her singleton life style and vows to make some serious changes. Through her diary entries we get to go along on the crazy ride as she attempts to find true love.
Bridget Jones is back and she never kept her happy ending with Mark Darcy. She has just turned 43 and still very much single, decides to change her life choices which leads to becoming pregnant. One problem, the baby has two possible fathers.
I have just woken up to the sad news that Garry Marshall has passed away so decided as a tribute I would pick my 7 favourite of the films he directed for this blog post. RIP Garry Marshall a man who really changed the Romantic Comedy genre!
Beaches (1988) Review
Three teenage girls Kat, Daisy and Jojo come of age in this story whilst working in a pizza parlour. Each having to deal with love and loss whilst trying to work out which direction their life is going in.
This is something I have been looking to put together for a while now I am truly an absolute sucker for romantic films, I really cannot resist a good romantic drama and the good romantic comedy. We all know love in real life is nothing like in our favourite films but that is surely a reason why I like them so much, they are different. Obviously give us an unrealistic expectation about finding love and well keeping it with someone.
I am picking the 100 films to be in this list that are my favourites to watch, I thought that would be the best and easiest way to rank them. I guess it will also help me to see if I prefer the hard hitting tragic love stories or those that make you feel warm and fuzzy inside with the cute happy ending romantic films.
❤️ – Love
💔 – Heartbreaker
😈 – Sex Scenes
😢 – Tearjerker
😭 – Tragic sobbing
😂 – Funny moments
😃 – Happy Ending
I thought what better day to post all of this than on Valentine’s Day? Not that I like or appreciate the day at all but trying to stay topical and all that!
What are your favourite Romantic films?
Are you Rom-Com or Tragic Drama?
