I spend a lot of time at either the cinema or theatre. You will then find reviews from these films and shows!

Jawbone (2017) Review

Jimmy McCabe was a youth boxing champion who could really have been something, after well and truly hitting rock bottom he returns to training and the ring in an attempt to turn his life around.

Noah (2014) Review

Based on the biblical tale of Noah, the man chosen by God to save the good that is left in the world and to rid it of all evil which is destroying his creation.

Snow White and the Huntsman (2012) Review

The classic fairy tale with a few twists along the way in this action and adventure retelling of the story.

London Boulevard (2010) Review

Mitchell (Farrell) is released from prison and finds himself quickly in trouble again getting involved with gangster Gant (Winstone) even though he does not see himself as a gangster. While this is going on he ends up falling in love with a young actress Charlotte (Knightley), who he has a job protecting from the press. I was very much looking forward to seeing this film as British gangster films are usually good to watch, this one however is lacking something.

There’s Only One Jimmy Grimble (2000) Review

This film is a British film about a school football team in Manchester and how if they get to the final of the school’s cup they get to play at Maine Road (Man City’s old ground now). The story follows Jimmy Grimble who loves City and football but lacks a lot of confidence and is constantly bullied by the other boys on the team. He becomes friends with an old woman who gives him “magic” boots.

Unwatched DVDs

For quite a few years now I have had problems buying DVDs of films which I have never seen before. These films may have one of my favorite actors in, won a lot of awards (mainly Oscar’s), I had heard a lot about the film or I missed it at the cinema. This is made more difficult when HMV, Asda and all start selling DVDs for £2 or £3.

This morning I decided to have a look and see how many of my DVDs that I have not ever watched . . . just the ones that I have never seen the film either. I have 30 of these DVDs and my plan is to watch them over the next few months. I probably have tried to watch a couple of them before but other than that they are films that I have never got round to seeing.

I have decided that I am not going to buy any more DVDs of the films I have not yet seen until I start watching some of these which are just sitting around. That may encourage me to watch these a little faster.

Here is the 30 long list of films I plan on watching over the next few months . . . or maybe longer I am not going to put a timescale on it but they are now top of my to see list. Why not? I have them ready to watch whenever I want.

44 Inch Chest (2009) Review

A man Colin (Ray Winstone) is devasted when his wife tells him that she is leaving him for another man that his friends group together and kidnap the man. All this trying to heal Colin’s ego and let him get revenge by possibly killing the loverboy.

44 Inch Chest (2009) Poster

I love Ray Winstone, I think he is just brilliant therefore I am very much looking forward to this film coming out. Also Tom Wilkinson who I just love more and more in each film I see him in.

Cleo (2011)

I have just been reading about Cleo which is apparently in pre-production with Steven Soderberg directing and Catherine Zeta Jones as the title role Cleo, and Ray Winstone is currently set to play Julias Caeser. It is down to be a drama and musical, which I think will be very interesting.

So far I am very excited about this as love all three of those mentioned above. So hopefully more news will come out soon especially about filming starting would be good, and even pictures from on-set would also be a big plus with it all. It sounds like it will be a very good role for Catherine to take on.

Winstone And Knightley To Play Lovers

Very strange link . . . would have thought father and daugther. But Ray Winstone is the man or the daddy haha. Love him. Will be interested to see how this works out . . .

Ray Winstone and Keira Knightley are set to play unlikely lovers in a new gangster movie.

The pair has signed to star alongside Colin Farrell and Anna Friel in London Boulevard, The Departed screenwriter William Monahan‘s directorial debut.

Winstone will play a criminal who is released from prison and becomes romantically involved with a reclusive actress, played by Knightley.

It’s not the first time the British pair has shared the big screen – they were co-stars in 2004 film King Arthur.

The new movie will begin shooting in the British capital this summer.
