It’s Oscars week, plenty of build up and related posts coming on Let’s Go To The Movies so let’s kick it off with the haunting City of Stars!
Having seen Dreamgirls on Friday night I thought it was more than worth having this as the Musical Moment this Monday! With three different versions of the song, considering Amber Riley aka Mercedes from Glee was in the show first here is the clip of her performing from Graham Norton just before Dreamgirls opened in the West End.
On Saturday I will be at the London Palladium watching Whoopi Goldberg on the stage in her first ever UK stand up act, as well as a 30 minute question and answer session. Very excited as she has always been one of my favourites and in so many memorable films from growing up in the 90s! I am very excited about sitting in the fourth row and seeing the legend on stage so close up.
I guess I have seen her before though when she hosted the Tony Awards the year I was lucky enough to attend she even came on as Mary Poppins!
Over the weekend I have booked up to head to New York in July for my birthday. It has been a pretty long time since my last trip there so I am very much looking forward to it. In the build up and celebration of booking thought it was only right for New York, New York to be the Musical moment today!
I will be looking to see a few shows on Broadway, if I can figure out how to find cheaper tickets as the prices are so high is unreal!
I am also going to visit film related places so if you can think of any please let me know, Katz Deli from When Harry Met Sally is certainly one place I want to go!
Here’s a total classic Christmas song from Meet Me in St Louis sung by the incredible Judy Garland!
As you are probably already aware I totally love Bill Nighy! This character from Love Actually Billy Mack is just the best! Also hilarious that they released it probably as a song and music video! Honestly watch the film with cast commentary on its well worth it!
Still so happy about seeing Michael Ball and Alfie Boe in concert on Thursday night and having a full blown with this song (again) I felt I need to have their rendition of it as my Musical Moment today.
Originally by Christina Perri for one of the Twilight films, it really is such an emotional song!
On Thursday I am lucky enough to be going to see Alfie Boe along with Michael Ball in concert. So to celebrate I thought it was perfect to have today’s musical moment from Les Mis with Alfie Boe singing Bring Him Home!
This is inspired from the Ian McKellen obsession as well as the crazy news of the Ultimate Middle Earth Box Set being announced.
I can feel that a re-watch of the films soon Extended Editions of course! Along with plenty more blog posts. Not forgetting an inspired Blogathon!
Yes, you guessed it after seeing the show in the West End on Wednesday I am even more obsessed with it. I have seen bought both concert anniversary versions and re-watched the film. So I thought that I needed to have it as today’s musical moment, I have decided to pick ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ who cannot at times relate to this haunting song and let’s face it this rendition won Anne Hathaway a Best Supporting Actress Oscar!
