Following the Oscar 2017 nominations being announced yesterday and La La Land being nominated for an impressive 14, I felt like I had to gush (even more) about the film. Have I mentioned that I totally loved it? Maybe you missed my review, read it here.
City of stars
Are you shining just for me?
City of stars
There’s so much that I can’t see
I felt it from the first embrace I shared with you
That now our dreams
They’ve finally come true
Here we go the moment we have been waiting for since hitting 2017! The films that have been nominated for this years Academy Awards, regarded as the most prestigious to receive in cinema.
Hell or High Water
La La Land
Manchester by the Sea
I always totally love these photos of the four winners in the acting categories mainly because they are always organised in exactly the same way and look great!
He did it! Leonardo DiCaprio for The Revenant
By no means his best work but still massively deserved for Leo!
Brie Larson for Room
I was really hoping for an upset with this one as didn’t think Larson was anything special in Room massively overrated performance.
Mark Rylance for Bridge of Spies!
Will be seen as an upset but I am pleased with this one as he was one of my choices for wanting to win. Superb performance in Bridge of Spies!
Alicia Vikander for The Danish Girl
Keep checking back for my live thoughts on the host, presenters and winners of each award! I am confident of staying awake this year!!!
I have managed to see 7 out of the 8 films nominated for Best Picture, which is pretty disappointing considering I bought Mad Max a few weeks ago and struggled to get into it and haven’t had a chance to properly watch it! Honestly I will get round to it eventually. So here are my thoughts on each of the films that have been nominated for the big one!
Here we go the nominations for the 2016 Oscars!
Still seen as the biggest awards in film and most prestigious, maybe a couple of surprises in terms of not getting a nomination but the majority is probably expected. Maybe the Academy should release the nominations before the rest of the awards and it wouldn’t be as easy to try and predict them? I will be doing plenty of posts for the big awards once I have seen the rest of the films, we have a busy couple of weeks coming up in the UK!
The Big Short
Bridge of Spies
Mad Max: Fury Road
