I can’t belie Dave Johns hasn’ beenn nominated. So annoyed about that!

      January 10, 2017 at 1:16 pm

      • I think it was unlikely though.

        • Caz

I thought it was his best chance. He was the whole film!

          January 10, 2017 at 2:21 pm

          • Hopefully the film wins.

            January 10, 2017 at 2:58 pm

          • Yeah that is odd!

            January 10, 2017 at 4:25 pm

          • Caz

Especially when he is the key player!

          • British film rarely gets recognised these days.

BAFTA always used to focus more on them as well 😦

            January 10, 2017 at 7:17 pm

          • That was the point of BAFTA particularly with the film industry in England being almost non existent.

Seems that they have all sold out now, which is such a shame!

I’m pleased with that too. but not Nocturnal Animals didn’t get that film or the hype around it at all. Gutted for Dave Johns!

      January 10, 2017 at 2:56 pm

      • Didn’t Nocturnal get nine nominations as well? That was a surprise.

          Yeah somehow it did!

The biggest surprise for me was the inclusion of Emily Blunt for The Girl On The Train and the complete omission of A United Kingdom. Disgraceful!

    January 10, 2017 at 4:48 pm

    • Caz

Oh man how could I forget about A United Kingdom?!?!

Yes, Emily Blunt for The Girl on the Train is just not good. Awful film and average performance. Very poor!

      January 10, 2017 at 4:51 pm

  4. I haven’t seen most of the big nominees so can’t comment too much, but as a sci-fi fan it’s nice to see an intelligent, grown-up example of the genre in Arrival doing so well. Fingers crossed that continues throughout awards season.

Yeah I really did enjoy that one! I’d stay well clear of Nocturnal Anaimals didn’t get that or the hype rsurrounding it.
