I spend a lot of time at either the cinema or theatre. You will then find reviews from these films and shows!

Blogathon: 7 Things I Learned from the Movies

banners

You’re invited to get deep, personal or have some fun with the lessons films have taught you, for the THINGS I LEARNED FROM THE MOVIES BLOGATHON.

Your hosts are Ruth of Silver Screenings and Kristina of Speakeasy, and this blogathon happens October 14-17, 2016.

You can do anything: a list, essay, video, or podcast, to discuss the valuable or ridiculous life lesson(s) you learned from a film, whether it was about love, war, greed, kindness, activism, bravery, sacrifice, or prejudice. Tell which movie taught you a universal truth, a new concept, the way a system works, how to craft the perfect comeback, deal with a bully, kill a vampire, behave on a date, solve a murder or mix a cocktail with style. Did a film guide your career choice, help you overcome an obstacle, better understand a friend, era, art form or culture, or change your life?

1. Kiss someone as if it is the last time! (Every time)

casablanca-quotes-4_zpsdthhwpn9

Keeps the passion going, always kiss the person you love as if you will never kiss them again!

2. You can only know about real loss if you love something more than you love yourself.

You can only experience that real loss feeling when you truly loved that person!

3. No matter how bad your day has been, tomorrow will always be a chance to start again.

scarlet-ohara_zpswewbtpyt

Honestly it is, you will always feel better after even the smallest amount of sleep after a very awful day!

4. Happiness can be found even in the worst of times!

Another about bad times, but it is again true. You can always turn a light on when things get very dark!

5. Your playlist defines you!

tumblr_nwyeeflizb1uzomqmo1_500_zpsgnrhnaka

What you have on your current playlist and listen to over and over again is the place that you are currently in!

6. You will get over having your heart broken.

Eventually anyway, but this is certainly a very helpful way to look at it. Just think about it in Julie Andrews voice as well and you will believe it!

7. Nobody’s perfect . . .

Quite possibly the best lesson from the movies to remember!

What have you learned from the movies?

Thanks! It came at a great time as I have had a pretty horrendous week, so kinda used it to remind myself that things will get better. Love for the movies really does help at times when life is too much!

      • I completely agree. And I hope next week will bring better things.🙂

I’m sure if you can quickly put together a post you will be able to join in! So sorry to hear about your anxiety and depression😦 a blog post could certainly help!

Ah, Joe E. Brown. What a gem of a film “Some Like It Hot” is. Always fun to revisit.

It’s one of those films that I wish I could have caught up with sooner. Incredible film.

  8. These are some great choices! I’m curious- did you have to look at your DVDs or bookshelf or were these messages you clung to prior to writing the post? There are so many good life-affirming messages you can take away the movies that it’s almost overwhelming to choose!

I actually have a couple of them as quote posters on my wall, from posterity amazing stuff! But mainly off the top of my head as things that mean loads to me from the movies.

  9. These are important tips, especially about turning on the light. Very practical. Man, that scene in Begin Again is so good. And playlists definitely are what defines us. Well done!

  10. My mother and I say that Gone With the Wind quote on repeat when we’re having a bad day! It’s so simple and brilliant…and still being quoted so many years later!

I think it’s because it is totally true and makes you feel slightly better in an awful situation!
