An adaptation of Charles Dickens tale Great Expectations has a fantastic cast. Pip is an orphan who was taken in by his wicked sister after the death of their parents. His kindness one day changes his life forever, when he is suddenly made a gentleman with help from an unknown benefactor.
Having seen Skyfall
twice make that three times now! I couldn’t help but notice how many times the word “bloody” is used throughout the film. I am sure this is seen as a big British word but it really does feature a lot. Hence the title of this blog post, it possibly is the most British Bond film to date with a lot of the scenes being in and around London, with a trip to Scotland as well so the UK is very well used in this film. (But don’t worry some other places are involved too).
The time eventually arrived for Bond to return to the big screen, a third outing as 007 for Daniel Craig. The hype and build up around this film has been incredible, along with it being 50 years of James Bond everyone has been talking about this film.
I decided that after watching more films and giving my Top 10 – Tragic Love Stories post more thought that a second part of tragic love stories should be done. Mainly because lets face it so many tragic love stories seem to happen on the movie world. I have taken into consideration the comments on what is now Tragic Love Stories: Part 1 – with people letting me know which films they feel have the most tragic love stories in them. I agreed with a lot of them as well, but had already done the first list.
This part contains quite a lot of more recent film love stories and some which were missed from Part 1!
THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS
I have just returned from a midnight showing of the second part of the deathly hallows, that being the final Potter film in the franchise. We pick up straight away from where we were left off at the end of part one, and reminded how Voldemort took the Elder Wand from Dumbledore’s grave.
After the return of Lord Voldemort at the end of the Goblet of Fire. We are wondering how the wizarding world are going to react to it all. Well the answer to that is badly, as the minister of magic tries to claim that Dumbledore and Harry are making it all up. But we all know that is not the case . . .
A look back at the posters from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009)
The fourth year at Hogwarts see’s the tri-wizard tournament take place, meaning two other wizarding schools come for a year. Some twists and turns see the usual tri-tournament having a fourth competitor in an underaged wizard taking part and yes you guessed it, Harry Potter is that wizard.
Yes that’s right a few more posters have been released for the new Potter film which had it’s world premiere in London last night, and is released next week!
No contest at all, you have to be team Harry or you wouldn’t keep reading and watching! You really do love him from the very start and stick with him until the very end. You go through so much with him, growing up and having to deal with all the talk of being the chosen one. The awkward teenage phase and when he starts to notice girls more. You really cannot be team of the man who must not be named. It is all about the boy wizard who we see grow into a man.
World War II is coming to an end and we see nurse Hana (Binoche) taking care of dying patient and burns victim Count Laszlo de Almásy (Fiennes). His story of a great love affair is shown to us in flashback form.
After the utter excitement of seeing the first trailer on the big screen for the first time yesterday (it’s attached to ‘Green Lantern’). A second trailer for the most anticipated film of the year has been released, it is another brilliant trailer! Cranking up the anticipation to the release in a months time!
Another poster for the up and coming Harry Potter film. This time Voldemort and his deatheaters!
As we are entering June, the summer films are going to be coming out thick and fast over the next couple of months. Let’s have a look and see what we have to look forward to! As with most summer films, a lot seem to be based around comic books. We have another installment from X-Men (hopefully doing better than Wolverine) and the much anticipated Captain America: The First Avenger, which is the last film in the build up to ‘The Avengers’ which is due out next year. A couple of comedies thrown in. But let’s face it, this summer is about the final Harry Potter film, part 2 of the Deathly Hallows. The end of the franchise after 10 years since it all began.
It doesn’t seem that many out and out romantic comedies are going for a summer release (unless of course I have missed them). Definitely more for the action and adventure angle this summer!
What films are you looking forward to most this summer?
The next character poster is none other than the Dark Lord . . . Voldemort
The Harry Potter film series has done wonders for the British film industry over the years and also been able to showcase so many talents in the films as well. We certainly do see the best of British in the series. Some with big parts throughout all (or most) of the films. While others have smaller parts, or even just cameos. But they really have been such a credit for showcasing the talent which is on offer in Britain. A lot of the actors and actress are held in high regard in the theatre world. Some of my favorite actors and actress have appeared in the film series which is so refreshing to see so many of them in the same films.
A lot of well-respected actors appear in the films bringing life to the much-loved characters from the books.
Alan Rickman – Severus Snape
A very well-loved actor who always seems to be the bad guy. But is he always the bad guy in the Potter series? Well that’s the difficult thing to figure out. One minute you love Snape and the next you hate him, you love to hate him and I don’t think anyone but Rickman could have you thinking that about a character.
The first trailer (as I am guessing we will see a couple more) for the second part of The Deathly Hallows was released last week and I am just being slow posting it on my blog. It really is a fantastic trailer and starting to build up towards the end of the Harry Potter series.
The first poster has been released for the most anticipated film of the year in the final chapter of the Harry Potter series. It really is just a fantastic way to start off what I can imagine will be a lot of posters. We are used to seeing loads for the Potter films and I am sure this one will be no different and possibly even have more than the previous films!
The first part of the final Harry Potter film has been much talked about since, well since the book was out? Or since the last film, or maybe even both of those. I have to start by saying that I have never been the biggest fan of the Potter films, and I haven’t actually seen the last installment (Half Blood Prince). But anyway after seeing the trailer for this film I thought it looked a hell of a lot darker than the previous films. The continuing adventure, or as this film will be often referred to as the beginning of the end . . .
