Dear John (2010) Pictures

I have been anticipating this film for quite a while now and it is due for release in the UK in the next few weeks. I do have a slight crush going towards Channing Tatum as well which is another factor in wanting to see this film. I am a big fan of Nicholas Sparks novel’s turned films as they always seem to have a tragic love story in them. Check out an older post I made about Nicholas Sparks novel’s turned into Movies.

Flaunt Magazine #108 The Abandonment Issue – Part 2

JACQUES AUDIARD

Re-Imagining the Systemics of the Prison Film

written by Matthew Bedard  photographed by Ryan Rogers

here’s something at first incongruous about French director Jacques Audiard smoking his pipe amongst the lush, backyard palms and philodendrons of the French Consulate General’s Beverly Hills home. It’s not so much an astutely continental manner and poise playing afternoon contrast against the spoils of Western expansion, but rather that this yard has fences, and their containment of the director, who smokes, paces, and smokes some more, seems questionable. Quite the ironic anvil as Audiard’s in town promoting his latest directorial effort, a prison film, A Prophet–the most recent Grand Jury Prize winner at the Cannes Film Festival–a piece of cinema that, like previous goes Read My Lips and The Beat that My Heart Skipped, stylishly beautifies brutality, crime, disability, and the human struggle to the searing effect of empathy and French noir cool.

Movie Quote of the Day 75

Today’s quote comes from “Crazy Heart” and I so know that this would have totally got to me if someone said it to me. Damn Bad Blake, haha.

“I wanna talk about how bad you make this room look. I never knew what a dump it was until you came in here.”

Eclipse (2010) Poster

Not long after the teaser trailer was released here comes the first poster to have the characters on . . . is it just me or are all the film posters/trailers etc really looking the same?

Movie Quote of the Day 74

Today’s quote comes from Revolutionary Road and I thought it was a very important part of the film as helps explain how Frank feels.

Hopeless emptiness. Now you’ve said it. Plenty of people are onto the emptiness, but it takes real guts to see the hopelessness.”

Movie Quote of the Day 73

Today’s quote comes from Benjamin Button . . . yes I know I have picked way too many quotes from that film. But this is very nice and possibly very true?

We’re meant to lose the people we love. How else would we know how important they are to us?”

Movie Quote of the Day 72

Today’s quote comes from “The Time Travelers Wife” although I found the film slightly disappointing I really did love this quote.

I wouldn’t change one second of our life together.”

Can a woman be more successful than her husband/partner in Hollywood?

After the recent allegations that the most recent best actress Oscar winner Sandra Bullock’s husband Jesse James cheated on her. It got me thinking about the previous best actress winners and there relationships especially after Kate Winslet announcing her spilt from husband Sam Mendes earlier this week. Hilary Swank  split from Chad Lowe not too long after she picked up her second best actress statue. So can men really not handle it if there wife is more successful than them or is it all just a coincidence?

The old-fashioned values and usual relationship rules are that the man is classed as the main earner and “looks” after his wife and children. But in Hollywood that is not often the case when a woman can easily be more successful than her husband. So lets venture down the road of successful actresses and have a comparison with relationships she has had, especially before and even after winning the highest accolade of an Oscar.

Eclipse (2010) Trailer

The trailer was released a week or so ago for the 3rd part in The Twilight Saga . . . Eclipse. I actually liked this book the best out of them all as actually couldn’t put it down.

Eat, Pray, Love (2010) Trailer

As you already know as a massive Julia Roberts fan the trailer for her up and coming summer film was bound to get me excited. It certainly didn’t disappoint me one bit. It looks like Julia Roberts is back and I cannot wait for the film to be released.

The A-Team (2010) Poster

The first poster has been released for this summers movie version of the A-Team. Apparently there is no plan b!

The Greatest (2009) Poster

A new poster has just been released for this drama starring Carey Mulligan, Susan Sarandon and Pierce Brosnan.

Movie Quote of the Day 71

Today’s quote comes from “Indecent Proposal” and maybe is something I should really take into account . . .

“If you ever want something badly, let it go. If it comes back to you, then it’s yours forever. If it doesn’t, then it was never yours to begin with.”

Desert Island DVDs

I am very much looking forward to being involved in the Desert Island DVD posts set up by Andy from Fandango Groovers. It should create some very interesting posts and debates when everyone publishes their posts early next month.

I have decided that I am going to start out with big list and figure out a way to get it down to 8.

Great idea Andy and I very much looking forward to posting day!

If you want to get involved head over to Andy’s blog.

Movie Quote of the Day 70

Today’s quote is just totally true . . . and comes from musical “Mary Poppins” sorry to all the men out there haha.

Though we adore men individually, we agree that as a group they are rather stupid.”

News: Kate Winslet splits from Sam Mendes

Oscar-winning couple of actress Kate Winslet and director Sam Mendes have today announced that they are splitting up and planning on getting a divorce. I was rather shocked by this but thinking back to the Oscars Sam was not with Kate. Are they another couple to fall to the 7 year itch?

I am a big fan of Kate and thought it looked like her and Sam were together for the long haul, the way they spoke about each other when they worked together on Revolutionary Road. They always appeared strong as a couple. But I guess we never know what goes on behind closed doors.

More info TIMES

I wouldn’t usually make blog posts like this one but I am such a fan of Kate and wondering what others thought of this sad news?

Movie Quote of the Day 69

Today’s quote comes from “Dan in Real Life” and I wish someone had told me this when I was very young!

Instead of telling our young people to plan ahead, instead we should tell them to plan to be surprised.”

Oscars 2010 – The Show

Possibly the most predictable Oscars in recent times. But what was the show like? Well I thoroughly enjoyed it last year and that was because of host Hugh Jackman and some changes made to the show. I had also seen most of the nominated films and was much Team Rourke thinking we were going to see Mickey win for his role in “The Wrestler” a film I really loved. But that didn’t happen and then the very overrated Slumdog took the big prize, I pretty much fell out of love with the Oscars.
