Surrogates (2009) Review

Tom Greer (Bruce Willis) is a policeman who must investigate death’s of people who had been killed while plugged in and controlling their surrogate. The surrogate was killed, as was the person this was not supposed to be possible. It was supposed to be safer for the real person to go out with a surrogate in order for them to not get hurt or in any danger. A few twists and turns are in the plot to see who is trying to stop the world of surrogates and get people to really live again. I am not going to spoil the ending on who it was behind it all, see if you can figure it out when you go to see this film.

3D Movies

3D seems to very much be the in thing at the movies at the moment. 2010 is scheduled to be jam-packed with plenty of 3D action, and still a few more to come over the rest couple of months in 2009.

Just had “The Final Destination” which was the first 3D movie I have seen at the cinema. The only reason I went to see it was because it was in 3D to be completely honest. I wonder how many more people took this approach?

In the UK we still have a film I am very much looking forward to opening next month “Up”. A new Pixar/Disney film, so it is very much on my really want to see list.

Also this Friday we have the release of the original “Toy Story” in 3D which is going to be just fantastic. As I already love it and it can only get better in 3D. Toy Story 2 is also due for release.

Then as a special Christmas treat we have Disney’s Christmas Carol, which I think just looks fantastic. Got to love Jim Carrey even if it is just his voice.

Also around Christmas time we have “Avatar” which does look very cool, as I saw the trailer for it in 3D while seeing The Final Destination. So for the rest of this year we do have a few 3D movies to really look forward too.

2010

So far for next year we have seven 3D films to look forward too. Beauty and the Beast in 3D, Alice in Wonderland (which I have to admit that I had no idea would be in 3d, but I am now more excited for this film), Shrek Forever After, How To Train Your Dragon, Hubble, Tron Legacy and Toy Story 3.

I think for 2010, I am most looking forward to Toy Story 3 and Alice in Wonderland.

What are everyone’s thoughts on 3D movies?

Mrs. Doubtfire (1993) Review

This has to be one of my favorite and most watched films ever. Just because I used to watch it so much when I was little when it first came out and still love watching it now. It still manages to make me smile and laugh, even though I do know all of the words and even tone in which the words are said. Yes that has to help describe my love for this film. I am always shocked to hear if someone has not seen this film as I always just assume that everyone has.

The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus (2009) Poster

Just come across another poster for “The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus”. I think I like this poster the best (so far) and think it really catches the craziness which is shown in the trailer for the movie. It really is building up suspense for the release, I for one cannot wait til it comes out.

Fame (2009) Review

Remember . . . Remember my name !!!

But other than the three actor’s I already knew before going into this film, those being Megan Mullally, Kelsey Grammer and Bebe Neuwirth . . . I don’t think I will remember there names. Don’t get me wrong that may seem a strange starting with the review in a negative manner when I did still quite enjoy the film. It was far from perfect and had flaws, but a new generation and obviously more modern version.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011)

Rob Marshall has been announced as the new director of the 4th POTC film. This seems to have started rumours that Johnny Depp will drop out of the project and therefore to Captain Jack Sparrow. I do not know how true that is, but will POTC be able to work without Captain Jack? I really do not think it could.

Whats everyone else’s view?

Dirty Dancing or Ghost?

After the sadness of Patrick Swayze’s passing away I watched “Ghost” the other night and proceeded this pattern by watching “Dirty Dancing” last night. So I decided to have a poll to see which is everyone’s favorite from the two of Patrick’s most well loved films . . . and reasons why if you want to share.

THe Accidental Husband (2008) Review

A romantic comedy with quite a few twists and turns, can you really guess how it is going to end? The answer to that question is still yes, even if it does have a few twists to the story that might make you think ooo well maybe I was wrong.

Gamer (2009) Review

In the future video gaming has taken to a new extreme, people controlling real people . . . yes that sounds very strange but thats how far everything had come in the future in this film. Castle (Michael C. Hall) was the founder of two different “simulation” worlds the first having actors, who are controlled by the users doing what ever they want. Then second was a “TV Show” called Slayers which involved convicts from death row to battle to the death while being controlled by a user.

Julie & Julia (2009) Review

I would advise not to watch this film when hungry as it will just make you even worse. So much food that really does look good enough to eat and even makes you want to cook it. Is that partly the point of this film, to encourage people to cook? That would make sense as Julia makes Julie want to cook and inspires her blog. I decided to read some what in to the background of Julie Powell’s blog and found out that it is the first blog to be made into a movie. How ironic that I am not blogging about a movie that was based on a blog?

Ghost (1990) Review

Last night after hearing the news of Patrick Swayze’s passing, I just had to watch “Ghost”. Ok so it was going to “Ghost” followed by “Dirty Dancing” but I had not long ago watched that. So decided to just focus on “Ghost”. With the famous pottery scene, unchained melody and Whoopi Goldberg winning an Oscar in the Supporting Actress role.

Passing Strange (2009) Poster

I have just come across a poster for this film and was quite suprised as it started on Broadway a year or two ago, nominated for Tony awards in 2008 but did not do too well at the Tony’s and therefore closed on Broadway not long after the award ceremony. I checked IMDB and it has it listed as a TV movie, none the less below is the poster.

Get Low (2009) Poster

This film is about a real life legend who famously threw his own funeral party while he was still alive. This is the poster for “Get Low” which has a very good leading cast.

Time of My Life – Dirty Dancing

Just had to post something with Patrick in it. The music video for “Time of my Life” with clips from “Dirty Dancing” in it.

District 9 (2009) Review

I think the first and best word I can use to describe this film is disappointing. After the trailers and loads of posters building up suspense it was a rather let down.

Toy Story 3 (2010) Poster

The first poster which is so obviously a teaser poster for the third Toy Story film which is due for release in 2010. The suspense is being started already . . .  especially after the teaser trailer was released a few months ago now.

The Men Who Stare At Goats (2009) Poster

Just come across the poster for a film which has some big name stars and a goat . . . which is based on a reporter getting the story of a lifetime.

A Christmas Carol (2009) Poster 2

Just come across another poster for Jim Carrey’s up and coming Christmas release of “A Christmas Carol” with Big Ben in the background. I so cannot wait for this film, it looks sooooo good.

RIP Patrick Swayze

RIP Patrick Swayze, who has lost is battle with cancer.

It has been very public knowledge on his battle with cancer but it is still a very sad moment that he has died at a young age of 57. He will always be remembered for his roles in “Dirty Dancing” and “Ghost” especially for women. Thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

Fame (2009) Pictures

Remember my name . . . Fame . . . Pictures from the up and coming new version of “Fame”. I think it does look like its going to be so different but still be very very good.

Did You Hear About The Morgans? (2009) Poster

Anything with Sarah Jessica Parker in makes me smile :-) . So here is the poster for her up and coming film with Hugh Grant, about a couple who witness a crime in NYC and are relocated to a small town my the witness protection programme.

Dorian Gray (2009) Review

The portrait of Dorian Gray is the only novel Oscar Wilde wrote, I have never read it but had heard quite a bit about it. Therefore when I first saw that a new film version was going to be made I was very much looking forward to it. While the story is in the late 1800′s and early 1900′s I still think it has quite a modern spin on the tale.
