News: Stars Invited To Join Oscars Organisation

I think this is very interesting to see who will be able to vote for future Academy Award winners.

Heath Ledger’s ex-girlfriend Michelle Williams, Casey Affleck and Emily Blunt are among the 134 stars and moviemakers who have been invited to become members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences – the organisation behind the Oscars.

The celebrities, executives and behind-the-scenes experts invited to become a part of the Academy Awards will be able to vote for the winners of the 2010 prizegiving in March.

Academy President Sid Ganis says, “These filmmakers have, over the course of their careers, captured the imagination of audiences around the world. It’s this kind of talent and creativity that make up the Academy, and I welcome each of them to our ranks.”

New members will be welcomed into the Academy at an invitation-only reception at the Fairbanks Center for Motion Picture Study in Beverly Hills in September.

Other invitees include Michael Cera, 2009 Oscar nominees Taraji P. Henson and Viola Davis, James Franco, Anne Hathaway and 2009 Oscars host Hugh Jackman.

News: Parker Hid Prudishness To Win Sex Role

As you may know by now that I love SJP and SATC especially her character Carrie Bradshaw. So to read this news is just so cute !!!

Sarah Jessica Parker hid her shyness from Sex And The City bosses – because she thought it would cost her the role of Carrie Bradshaw.

The actress rose to fame as cocktail-drinking party girl and New York newspaper columnist Bradshaw in the hit U.S. series.

She felt uncomfortable swearing in the role and was left shocked with the amount of explicit content included in the show.

But she refused to let television bosses know she was so clean-cut, fearing they would think she was the wrong person for the part.

She says, “If the audiences had known my true feelings about some of the sexual content in Sex And The City, they may have felt I wasn’t the right person to be in such a series. I just don’t drink, that’s part of the problem. I don’t like the taste of it and I don’t drink to relax.

“It has always been that way. I’ve never smoked anything other than the occasional cigarette in my whole life – and have never taken drugs of any kind.”

And Parker, who had a no-nudity clause written into her contract for the show, also had to adjust to the amount of sex scenes in each episode.

She adds, “I was thrilled that the others did the scenes so well and they looked great. But I have to deal with my own modesty. I wasn’t comfortable with the vulgar language, either. I thought that, because Carrie was a writer, she would be able to use better language than she did.”

News: Jackman To Play Cyrus’ Minder In New Bodyguard Movie

I like the sound of this, but I asuming with the age gap between Miley and Hugh they will not have the romantic connection which was in “The Bodyguard”.

Hugh Jackman and Miley Cyrus are set to team up for a new movie based loosely on hit film The Bodyguard.

The Aussie star will play a New York police detective hired to bodyguard a spoiled teen heiress (Cyrus) after she receives a kidnap threat, according to Daily Variety.

The new film is tentatively titled Personal Security.

Wicked (2010) Preview

I love Wicked and a movie is planned for a 2010 release, although none of the cast has actually been confirmed it is just rumours at the moment. However, I hope these rumoured people take on the film roles, as they were in the original broadway production of the musical. This includes: Idina Menzel, Kristin Chenowith and Joel Grey. Two of these won Tony Awards for there performances.

I am sure I will have many more posts about Wicked as I really cannot wait to see it on the big screen in movie format. (But hopefully I will get to see it on Broadway before that happens . . . that really is on my to-do list).

Funny Moments – Using Icons

Yes I am that bored and dont have a new movie to review, so thought I would post some funny movie moments in icon form.

 - 4o Year Old Virgin

    - Bridget Jones Diary and Bridget Jones Edge of Reason

  Finding Nemo

   - Grease

    My Best Friends Wedding

Million Dollar Baby (2004) Review

I do not really know where exactly to start with this review, as this is my all time favorite film. It has been from the very first time that I saw it and was just amazed by the acting, the story and just the whole film in general. I also must admit that before this I had not seen very much of Clint Eastwood’s work (yes I know that was very bad, but that was 5 years ago now).

How Do You Know (2009) – On Set Pictures

Yes I have come across some on set pictures for James L. Brooks new movie “How Do You Know” and got excited because Jack Nicholson is in them . . . . yes a new Jack movie coming out soon, doesnt get any better than that !!!

Smart People (2008) Review

The main draw for me for this movie had to be that Sarah Jessica Parker was in it, and as it turned out her character was actually the most like-able. So the title of the movie is “Smart People” that is what it is basically about, two smart people in particular being Dennis Quaid and Ellen Page. I am really liking Ellen Page from the three movies I have now seen her in (might be more, but I can think of three right now). She is very good being sarcastic and managing to be funny in that way.

Movie Character’s I Have Related Too . . .

You know what its like, theres a moment in a movie when you totally feel for the character because you can see some of yourself in them and just know you would react the way in which they do. So I decided to make a little list using icons to help explain it all.

I will start with Bridget Jones . . . picking the wrong guy and doing really stupid things, yep that sounds about right, haha. And yes I have drunk a bottle of wine to myself on a few ocassions, like a virgin is my karoke song . . .

Iris from “The Holiday” played by Kate Winslet. Had such an awful time with a certain guy, she even gets a holiday exchange to get away from him, haha. But yes I could so feel her pain at times knew exactly hows she was feeling.

Charlotte in Lost in Translation . . . I just really have hit a crossroads in my life over the past couple of years and not sure at all what I am supposed to do.

Well I guess when looking at the icons those are the only three that I could find. So this will be part one, haha.

Alice in Wonderland (2010) Poster

Nothing really new about this, as the pictures were released the other day. But I am sure this is going to be the first of many posters for Alice in Wonderland. Starting a big build up for this movie.

RIP Michael Jackson

While a lot of the talk is about the sudden passing of Michael Jackson. I must also pay tribute to the music legend, who really did change the face of music over the years. With such massive hits and he still holds the biggest record sales in the world of his album “Thriller”.

So many of his songs have featured in movies and so many mentionings of him in movies which I am sure will continue and keep his memory alive.

My favorite Michael Jackson songs have to be “Man in the Mirror” and “Billie Jean”.

RIP Michael Jackson

Dan in Real Life (2007) Review

Another good movie I have now watched thanks to Netflix view instantly, I wanted to see this when it came out in the cinema as yes I am a fan of Steve Carell. I think he is a very funny actor and very good at what he done in “The 40 Year Old Virgin” and his part in “Bruce Almighty”. But “Dan in Real Life” is rather different to those, yes it is still a comedy but it is definatly a different type of comedy to what you are used to seeing him in. It is more of a serious comedy.

Cleo (2011)

I have just been reading about Cleo which is apparently in pre-production with Steven Soderberg directing and Catherine Zeta Jones as the title role Cleo, and Ray Winstone is currently set to play Julias Caeser. It is down to be a drama and musical, which I think will be very interesting.

So far I am very excited about this as love all three of those mentioned above. So hopefully more news will come out soon especially about filming starting would be good, and even pictures from on-set would also be a big plus with it all. It sounds like it will be a very good role for Catherine to take on.

Two Lovers (2008) Review

I am not really sure exactly what type of storyline I expected but this is not exactly it. I guessed the ending, well part of the ending. Was not really expecting the very ending which was on, but again as you were watching it became obvious what was going to happen.

News: Efron Signs On For ‘Sexy Thriller’

Mmmm Zac in a sexy thriller . . . I very much like the sound of that !!!!

Zac Efron is keen to leave his teen idol image behind – he has signed on to star in a “sexy thriller” from the writer of The Thomas Crown Affair.

Efron, who has built up a huge teenage fanbase after starring in Disney hit High School Musical, is looking to move into a lead role with a more mature edge.

And he is starting his transformation into a serious Hollywood actor by appearing in the next film by writer/producer Leslie Dixon.

But the star won’t feel too out of place in Dixon’s movie – the pair worked together on Hairspray, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

News: Pfeiffer Wants To Play Catwoman Again

OMG yes please, Michelle was just fantastic as Catwoman in “Batman Returns” so to see her again as Catwoman in a Batman movie would just be amazing !!!

Michelle Pfeiffer is calling on Batman Begins director Christopher Nolan to let her reprise her role as Catwoman in the Caped Crusader’s next movie outing.

Pfeiffer played the feline superhero in 1992 movie Batman Returns.

She handed the role over to Halle Berry in time for a 2004 spin-off – but admits she’d love to reclaim the leather catsuit and join Christian Bale’s Batman in a future film.

Pfeiffer tells Moviefone, “It would be really fun. I don’t think that’s going to happen. I think they like to get a new face for the different characters, and I understand it. But yeah, that was really fun. I had a good time.”

News: 2010 Hollywood Walk of Fame

So far that makes two of my favorites getting a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Those two being Bryan Adams and Colin Firth.

Andrea Bocelli and actors Russell Crowe, Colin Firth and John Cusack have been added to the list of celebrities set for stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010 – the 50th year of the famous stretch of Tinseltown real estate.

They will be joined by director James Cameron, actress Emma Thompson, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss and previously announced honourees Bryan Adams, Ringo Starr, Chaka Khan, Roy Orbison and Zz Top.

Starr’s honour will come almost a year after his late former bandmate George Harrison’s star was unveiled. Both plaques and the Beatles’ star will sit outside Hollywood’s Capitol Records building – the Fab Four’s former U.S. home.

News: Oscars Double Up Best Films For 2010

Wow, I think this is a big shock that it is changing to 10. But so good at the same time, the fact that now a more wide range of movies will be nominated and will possibly make it harder to guess what will win the best picture. Bring on the 2010 Oscars !!!

The organisers of the Oscars have doubled up the Best Film category for next year’s Academy Awards.

Ten movies will be shortlisted for the big prize at the 82nd Oscars in March.

Explaining the shift, Academy Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Sid Ganis says, “After more than six decades, the Academy is returning to some of its earlier roots, when a wider field competed for the top award of the year.

“The final outcome, of course, will be the same – one Best Picture winner – but the race to the finish line will feature 10, not just five, great movies from 2009.”

An average of 10 films competed annually for the top prize for the first 16 years of the Oscars and the last classic to win gold after beating out nine other movies was Casablanca in 1943.

Ganis adds, “Having 10 Best Picture nominees is going allow Academy voters to recognise and include some of the fantastic movies that often show up in the other Oscar categories, but have been squeezed out of the race for the top prize.”

From Paris With Love (2009) Poster

This sounds like a James Bond movie by the title and the poster looks fantastic a gun/ Effiel Tower is just a great image to have on it. Loving it already and to make it even better Jonathan Rhys Meyers is in it too.

On a side note I have put 2009 because that is what IMBd has it down as even though the release date is set for Feb 2010.

Marley & Me (2008) Review

I had heard a lot about this movie before I eventually got to watch it, I have to start by saying I did not really have any idea about the story (other than it being obvious how it was going to end). You cannot help but like Jennifer Aniston in which ever role that she is in. Owen Wilson still kinda manages to annoy me, as no matter what the difference in his  characters he still needs becomes very annoying with some of the lines he has, when he makes them in the whiny voice.

Mickey Rourke Picture of the Day 8

I have no idea if I am up to 8 . . . but just had to post this picture of Mickey !!! He really does wear some very random things.

News: Spacey’s Bond Dreams

I think Kevin would be a fantastic Bond villian as he really is a great actor, one of my favorites, and to see him in the same movie as Daniel Craig would be great.

Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey is urging James Bond bosses to consider him for a role in the next movie – because he has always dreamed of playing a 7 Things villain.

The Oscar winner played legendary comic book bad guy Lex Luthor in 2006′s Superman Returns, and he now has set his sights on a role opposite Daniel Craig in the follow up to last year’s Quantum of Solace.

Spacey insists playing an arch enemy of the suave secret agent is high on his list of priorities.

He says, “I would love to play the villain in Bond, but they haven’t called yet.”

Sleuth (2007) Review

Before I even start this review I must make it clear that I have not seen the original movie with Michael Caine and Laurence Olivier.

Alice in Wonderland (2010) Pictures

I have just come across the first still’s of character’s from Tim Burton’s 2010 release “Alice in Wonderland” and it looks like Tim Burton is still as crazy as ever. The following stills are Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen. From this pictures it really does look like it is going to be whacky !!!
