News: Carrey Brings Snow To Cannes
I think this is so cute
Jim Carrey brought Christmas to the French Riviera on Monday after transforming the Cannes Film Festival into a winter wonderland to promote his new movie A Christmas Carol.
The funnyman arrived at a yuletide-themed photo call in a horse-drawn carriage before frolicking in the fake powder at the sun-drenched Carlton Hotel beside the Mediterranean Sea.
Carrey, who plays Ebenezer Scrooge in the Disney film, even scooped clumps of the pretend flakes into snowballs, which he pelted at castmates Colin Firth and Robin Wright Penn.
Studio bosses have launched a seven-month promotional campaign for the 3D remake, which will even feature a train tour across the U.S. leading up to the film’s November release.
News: Roberts Hides Her Career From Kids
Awww this really is just too cute !!! I heart Jules so much, and love that she tries to keep her kids life normal. Also that they watch Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music !!! Love it
Julia Roberts is determined to keep her acting career secret from her children for as long as possible – she doesn’t want to ruin the magic of movies for them.
The Hollywood star is mother to three kids with husband Danny Moder – twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, four, and Henry, two – and deliberately refuses tell them she is an actress.
She tells British magazine New, “They don’t know what I do – yet. I kind of like it that way. I don’t know what they’re going to ask me when they do realise and I don’t know what I’m going to tell them, because I want movies to stay special for them for as long as possible.”
And the star admits she has already lied to Hazel about the secrets behind the film-making business.
She adds, “My daughter said to me the other day that Maria in The Sound Of Music sounded a lot like Mary Poppins. I said it’s because they’re both English! I didn’t want to say, ‘Well, it’s because Mary Poppins is really Julie Andrews, who’s an actress,’ because that would burst that perfect bubble. So I prefer not to deal with it right now.”
News: Gibson’s Girlfriend Pregnant – Reports
WOW I wonder if this is actually true !!! Cant imagine how his soon to be ex-wife must feel about it !?!?!
Mel Gibson’s girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva is pregnant with the couple’s first child, according to internet reports.
The actor’s wife Robyn filed for divorce last month after 28 years of marriage amid rumours the actor had been dating 39-year-old Grigorieva.

The former couple share one daughter and six sons.
Actors and Coming Up
As I am having a bit of a sort out and change around today I have been trying to think of different things I could post about in the blog. A lot more top 10 lists will be coming up when I think of some good top 10 titles.
I am also going to start doing profile’s on different actors and name my favorite movie by them, and which movies I have seen them in and things like that. So that will lead to a lot more posts with my opinions in them.
Any suggestions would be welcomed, thanks.
Movie Picture of the Day 16
I havent posted a movie picture of the day for quite a while now. So today’s picture is from Mary Poppins, this must make everyone smile.

Top 10 – Movie Musicals
I am a huge fan of musicals. I love going to see shows at the theatre and have seen shows on the West End and Broadway. So therefore I absoloutly adore movie versions of musicals. I have decided to do a countdown of my current top 10 movie musicals. I have actually found this list very hard to complete, as just having a top 10 was very difficult for me. But I managed to get it sorted in the end, haha. I kept remembering about different movies and probably will realise later that I have missed a favorite out. But never mind, I could always re-do this list in a few months.
New Layout
I was growing bored of the other layout I had on this blog. It had been that way since Feb . . . so all of 3 months and it wasnt really too good any more. So I have now changed to a different layout and I think it looks much better now. Especially that more pages fit across the top, so it gives me more room to adapt. I also really like the way the date is on the side of the posts.
Any views on the new layout?
News: Rourke In Mona Lisa Remake
Havent had any Mickey news for a while, hearing about him in a new movie is always nice
Mickey Rourke is to star in a remake of the 1986 British gangster movie Mona Lisa.
The Wrestler star will portray an ex-con working as a chauffeur for a high-class escort, rumoured to be played by Casino Royal actress Eva Green.
The original movie’s line-up included Bob Hoskins and Michael Caine, and saw Hoskins go on to win the 1987 Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Drama.
News: Hanks Takes Angels & Demons To Number One
No suprise really !!!
Tom Hanks is back at the top of the U.S. box office after claiming the number one spot with Angels & Demons.
The new thriller shot to the top of the new film countdown with an opening weekend take of $48 million (£32 million).
The film only just pipped Star Trek to the top spot – the sci-fi blockbuster took in $43 million (£28.6 million) during its second weekend on release, but tumbled from last week’s number one.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past and Obsessed round out the new top five.
News: No Sequel For Calendar Girls
I couldnt really see how a sequel would have worked when it was based on a true story.
Dame Helen Mirren’s co-star in Calendar Girls has laughed off reports of a sequel to the hit film – insisting the movie has produced enough spin-offs already.
Penelope Wilton starred alongside Mirren in the surprise 2003 smash, which chronicled the real-life story of a group of Women’s Institute members who produced a nude calendar to raise money for charity.
The movie grossed a massive $93 million (£62 million) worldwide and was this year turned into a hit West End show, while an anniversary calendar has just hit the U.K. shelves – but Wilton is adamant there won’t be another film.
She says, “I know a new tenth anniversary calendar has just come out, and there is a stage show as well, but I don’t believe there should be a new film. The Calendar Girls brand has gone as far as it can go.”
Netflix !!!
I am so slipping on the dvds with Netflix I need to get sorted and start sending them back quicker after watching them. Also the other night it was not possible to watch online for some reason, nothing would load up. So Netflix have been very nice and given some money back for the inconvenience. Which I thought was very nice of them, haha.
News: Davis Gives Up On Marriage
Awww poor Kristin . . . totally opposite of her SATC character Charlotte.
Sex & The City star Kristin Davis has given up on her dreams of marriage.
The actress has been candid about her hopes of finding lasting love, but at 44, Davis has yet to walk down the aisle.
But she insists she’s found fulfilment on her own, without a life partner.
She tells the New York Daily News, “I don’t know if I’ll ever get married. I don’t say never, but I just might not. I’m 44, but I think you can have what you want no matter how old you are!”
Ironically, Davis brought the plight of single, middle-aged women into the spotlight playing the prissy Charlotte York Goldenblatt in the long-running TV series-turned-movie, which ended in her character’s happy marriage.
10 Movie Quotes – That Mean Something To Me
I decided to do a list of 10 movie quotes that really mean something to me and I really relate to with how I feel about love, a certain man and life in general. I probably have posted most of these quotes on the blog at some point, but that just shows how much I love them,
“Sometimes I wish I had never met you. Because then I could go to sleep at night not knowing that there is someone like you out there.” (Good Will Hunting) -
While I love this quote, I more love that it kinda explained how I felt about someone a while ago. I always feel it is mis-quoted in terms of how it is said in the movie, as it is not said between two people who love each other. It is about Will Hunting (Matt Damon) being so brilliant.
“I’m scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life, the way I feel when I’m with you.” (Dirty Dancing)
Dang this hit me very hard when I watched the movie recently as it was totally how I felt when I left to come to the USA when I kinda said goodbye to someone. Although we did not say bye as such . . . but that whole moment in Dirty Dancing is totally how I felt.
“After all . . . tomorrow, is another day.” (Gone with the Wind)
I think this is always important to remember. That no matter how bad things are, tomorrow is another day (and hopefully a change in fortune?)
News: Spacey Launches Internet Campaign To Host Oscars
I think Kevin would be fantastic as Oscar host !!!
Kevin Spacey is considering starting an Internet campaign to land the job of hosting the 2010 Academy Awards.
The actor has a great relationship with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, having scooped statuettes for The Usual Suspects and American Beauty, and now he wants to take over from fellow actor Hugh Jackman as the host of the 82nd Awards.
Spacey says. “I’d love to host the Oscars. We can start a campaign on Twitter right now.”
Gamer (2009) Poster
I had never heard of this film until I came across this poster. I love the look of the film, just by the poster. And the fact that its Gerard Butler makes me like the look of it even more, haha.

A Christmas Carol (2009) Poster
This is the new poster for the new Jim Carrey version of A Christmas Carol, which is coming out in November.

News: Midler Calls For First Wives’ Club Sequel
I caught Bette on Rachael Ray yesterday and they were talking about this saying that she wished they had got the chance to do it not long after the original movie. I for one would love to see the sequel as adore this movie.
Actress Bette Midler wants to reunite with Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton for a sequel to 1996 comedy movie The First Wives’ Club.
The trio played three spurned women who seek revenge on the husbands who left them for younger women, in the comedy hit.
Midler insists Hollywood sexism prevented them from making a follow-up sooner, but she’s not given up hope – and is hoping to bring the story up to date on the big screen.
The star says, “I really do regret the fact that we didn’t get to do a sequel earlier and it’s funny when women have a big success, they say, ‘Ah, it’s a fluke’, but when men have a big success they bring a sequel straight out. We had a huge hit but then they couldn’t get it together for a sequel, it wasn’t organised enough to get it done again. So it really broke my heart.
“I was actually thinking in the shower the other day, has it been too long? Will people remember? It’s been two generations! I think if they got it together I think the crowd would come out for it, I really do.”
News: McGregor’s Holy Costume
I think this is really interesting !!!
Ewan McGregor felt a special link to the Catholic Church while shooting controversial new movie Angels & Demons in the Vatican City – his costume was made by the pope’s own tailor.
McGregor plays a priest alongside Tom Hanks in the film, a prequel to controversial 2006 drama The Da Vinci Code.
The feature was expected to upset Catholic scholars in the Vatican because it’s storyline deals with a brotherhood within the Catholic Church whose members commit murder to ‘protect’ Jesus Christ’s lineage.
Reviewers at The Vatican’s newspaper L’Osservatore Romano, who attended a special screening earlier this month, dubbed the film inaccurate but “harmless”.
And McGregor has revealed the project got an early boost, when Pope Benedict XVI’s tailor agreed to make his character’s cassock.
He says, “It was so beautiful because it was made by the Pope’s tailor. I don’t know that the Pope knows that. I don’t know that he’d be too pleased. The Vatican weren’t very happy about The Da Vinci Code and as a hangover to that weren’t too thrilled about Angels & Demons. But there’s no anti-Catholicism or anti-Christianity in the movie – otherwise I wouldn’t have made it. But his tailor made me my cassock, yeah.”
News: Newman’s Secret Sex Life The Subject Of Scandalous New Expose
I think its terrible that people will write stuff like this or mention, how can anyone ever know the truth when the people in question are no longer alive??? Its so disrespectful !!!
Paul Newman has been ‘outed’ from beyond the grave by Marlon Brando, according to writer Darwin Porter’s scandalous new book on the late movie legend.
Porter interviewed Brando about Newman before the acting great died in 2004 – and he was stunned with what the heavyweight star let slip.
In his book, Paul Newman: The Man Behind The Baby Blues, he quotes Brando as saying, “He never fooled me. Paul Newman had just as many on-location affairs as the rest of us, and he was just as bisexual as I was. But, where I was always getting caught with my pants down, he managed to do it in the dark.”
Porter tells America’s the Globe he has been tracking Newman’s secret sexual encounters since he met the actor in 1959 and alleges in his new book the late star, who was happily married to actress Joanne Woodward for 50 years, bedded icons like Grace Kelly, Judy Garland, Natalie Wood and Marilyn Monroe.
The writer also claims Newman and James Dean had a gay romance.
But the actor’s family has dismissed Porter’s book, claiming the sex allegations are “disgusting”.
A source says, “Paul knew there were rumours out there about his sexuality and to have to face them when he’s not here to dispute them is Joanne’s worst nightmare.”
News: Generous Douglas Rewards Kids At Namesake School
I think this is such a nice gesture !!!
Generous movie legend Kirk Douglas hands every kid who graduates from the U.S. high school he sponsors a cheque for $500 (£333).
Douglas’ support for the California school, which offers troubled kids a second chance, prompted education bosses to name it after him.
And the Spartacus star makes a point of meeting and congratulating ever student who passes their senior year at the Kirk Douglas Continuation School.
In a posting on his MySpace blog, the 92-year-old writes, “A few weeks ago, I made a visit to the Kirk Douglas High School. I am proud that they asked to name their school after me.
“One of my pet projects is to try to inspire young people to at least have a high school education. Then, I try to encourage them to go to college. As a small inducement, I give every graduate a $500.00 check.
“When I spoke to the students I was surprised that they each gave me their personal pledge of what they wanted to do in life to improve our world: from volunteering in hospitals and local schools, to supporting our troops by sending letters and care packages. One student has agreed to help the elderly by volunteering at a convalescent center (I wonder if I inspired him). I am proud of the students of Kirk Douglas High School.”
